I learned this morning, via a text message, that John's trial started today. I'm pretty sure I will not have any valid details regarding said trial... and it's killing me! Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that court room. I have no idea what kind of evidence the prosecutor has, or what John's lawyer's strategy is.
Honestly, I don't really know what I want to happen here. I don't know what the punishment is for his crime. He is accused of stealing somewhere in the ballpark of $25,000 from his last place of employment. Cash. "Allegedly," he pulled some kind of a switcheroo with the cash drop and the armored car receipt or something. I don't really know the full details. Just what I read in the NY Post crime blotter, and the information that Detective Cadigan shared with me.
A big part of me wants to see him held accountable, for ONCE in his life for his actions... With that said, I don't think I can deal with the thought of him doing any jail time. For so many reasons. First, and foremost, I don't want my boys to have to someday learn that their Dad served time. I'm sure that it's inevitable that someday they'll find out that he was arrested. Internet being what it is in this day and age, it's just a matter of time before they know. But I would hate for them to have to deal with having a dad in prison. Second, he wouldn't last five minutes. He's pink. Literally. His skin is so pink and Irish. He looks like JFK's ugly cousin. So Irish and pink and sweater-vesty (yes, that's a word, I looked it up). He would get the ever lovin shit beat out of him daily. And worse. And, as much as he has destroyed my life, I still couldn't handle seeing those things done to him. Third- from a financial stand point, I'm pretty sure that if he got locked up, that would throw yet another wrench in the situation with my monthly checks..
Sooooo.... that's my today. I got my tire fixed today. I discovered my back passenger tire was low yesterday just as I was about to drive J to school. Luckily, it was just a nail in the tire, and the guy in town was able to patch it up. And that's that. That's all I got for today.
