Peace begets peace.
Yesterday's nature walk with my little guy felt really good. I woke up feeling like I need to do that a lot more. Getting out of the house, getting the boys away from tv and electronic toys more often. So, after dropping off big brother at preschool, I took little brother to the park. A really nice big park designed for all different age kids. So many things for him to choose from. He had a ball.
I brought him home for a nap. My parents were home, so I left him sleeping on the couch, and went to pick up Big from school. Instead of heading home and letting him plop on the couch with a sippy cup and snack, I took him to a local beach. One that we had never been to yet. It was a really cool one. I wish that I had brought my camera. There were huge rock formations that went on for hundreds of yards to climb and walk along. Apparently, someone had them placed there purposely. I'd never heard about them, and I just assumed they washed up that way from the ocean. Not so. These pictures are just from my cell phone. Next time, I will definitely bring my camera. It was really something to see, and experience.
First we walked the pier. There were 2 older gentlemen out there fishing and crabbing. I use the term "gentlemen" very deliberately. My son was very interested in what they were doing, and they both got down to their knees to his level, and showed him how they hooked their bate, how they cast their rods, and how to watch the bobbers for bites. My son was in Heaven. He wants to learn how to fish in the worst way. The men were wonderful, friendly, gentle souls. Surely Grandfathers. My son stopped periodically as we set off on on hike and rock climb to turn and wave to his new fishing buddies (as he called them).
