I took my little one to the park and on a nature walk today. Just me and him. He enjoyed it so much, and so did I. Sometimes I forget that his older brother got a lot more alone time with me than he has. He loves being outside.. and nature. We spent an equal amount of time walking the trails near a historic beach area in our town as we did on the swings and slides at the park near the trail entrance. He loves seeing the ducks and frogs, bees and butterflies. He seems to really appreciate the scenery and beauty of the green around him just as much as I do. We saw a hummingbird today buzzing around in some low brush along one of the trails. We saw a lot of blue birds and cardinals. The ducks were bummed that we were only pitching pebbles into the water, not crackers. We picked wild flowers and then pulled off he petals as we walked to make a trail.
It was nice. Peaceful. I needed it. He needed it. We've been spending a lot of time indoors lately with all the rain and mosquitoes and what not keeping us out of the backyard. I'm hoping he sleeps "like a baby" tonight after all the walking we did. I know I will.
