Let the Back Peddle Begin

So it's been about 96 hours since John had his "intervention" and his life was chaaanged forever!  A new man!  Changed! Saved!  Given a second chance, so he can get it right this time.

My ass.

After proclaiming for the past 4 days that he would be signing over the monthly check to me once and for all, and even going so far as to tell me to give him a voided check so that he can give it to his former partner, so that I can have direct deposit.... he's changed his mind.  I know, I know, BIG surprise.   I swear, some days I really think that he wants nothing more than to send me completely over the edge of insanity.

He texted me about an hour ago asking me if he needs to get a lawyer.  He said he would be willing to sign over the check IF my lawyer dropped the motion to make him responsible for her legal fees.  Ah.. so now we're bargaining?  Great.  I told him that it's standard practice for the lawyers to motion for the opposing party to pay their fees, and that my attorney is not "out to get him" as he likes to imply.

He went on to ramble about how it was mine and my attorney's fault that he nearly got put in jail because we sent documents to the D.A. to ensure he couldn't use the monthly notes as restitution for his case.  I countered that neither my attorney, nor myself robbed a restaurant of $28,000 three Decembers ago-- that was all him.
After many back and forths that include, but are not limited to;  him telling me how much he loves me, him telling me that the boys and I will always be taken care of,  and that I "walked out and quit on us" two years ago BEFORE he was ever arrested...."  he finally concluded by texting that the check will be spent before the next court date...  I guess that's his threat?

Soooo, I blocked his number from my cell so that I won't have to deal with his ridiculous texts anymore.  I also unplugged the house answering machine so as to avoid any insane rants on that.  9 days till our next court date!!! but who's counting?
