My sister inlaw, N got her bone marrow biopsy back yesterday. Free and clear of leukemia! Unbelievable! She had the type of leukemia that is supposed to kill you. AML. But it didn't. She is getting better. The doctors at Sloane wouldn't do the bone marrow transplant, so she switched it up. Crossed the street to Cornell Weill. Her Dr there- "let's do this thing!" (paraphrased). He saw that she had nothing to lose and decided to do the transplant even while she still had leukemia in her system. AND IT WORKED! Brother in law, R, was the lucky donor. I can't even believe it as I'm writing it now. Whew! Unreal.
It was some weekend I had. My washing machine (my parent's washer) quit on me a few weeks back, so I've been relying on my next door neighbor--- just washing the kid's clothes, and socks n underwear-- the basic necessities. On Saturday, John came over to visit the boys, and to help me move my washing machine from the garage into the basement. We banged that out pretty quick. It only took an hour or two to move the old out and new one in.
Sunday was the Pearl River St Patty's parade in upstate NY. Big big deal in John's family. His parents, aunts, uncles, etc are all "off the boat" Irish. So the month of March is fun fun fun for them. His cousin, M.E. always hosts an after parade bash at her house since she lives just off the parade route. Great fun. Besides the parade itself, the party involves lots of Irish dancers performing in her driveway, sons and nephews singing Irish ballads on the lawn, and the whole family and neighborhood friends joining in on Irish sing-alongs around the piano after dark. All in all, it's just a great time.
So, since John helped me with the washing machine on Saturday, I told him to just stay over till Sunday since we were all going to the parade and party anyway, let's let the boys have a good overnight with their Dad.
So we did. We wound up staying till almost 8pm at the party, so we decided to all stay at his sister's house (right by his cousin's house that was hosting the party) so we didn't have to drive all the way home that night.
Monday, we got up early to get me and the boys back early, and take care of the dogs. John came back with us because he had left all of his things here, yadda yadda... Fine with me. The boys were on cloud 9 from spending sooo much time with their Dad.
I have to admit. . As much as I could do without this man in my life, the boys adore him. They reeeally do. They ask for him every day, and it breaks my heart. So when we are having a good family weekend, yes.. I let it drag on. Guilty. I know in my heart how much he has damaged me and our family... but when I see the joy in my boy's eyes when they are with him, and hear the pain in their cries when he leaves, it's enough to kill me.
Just two seconds ago, I got word that our family friend, K. Mc, is gonna get to go home for the first time since last year when she was hospitalized after a surgical error nearly killed her.
God is smiling down on us today! Good things are happening. Spring is springing, Easter is on it's way, and miracles are blooming even sooner than the daffodils this year! I love it! Keep it coming God! This sinner is grateful for all your gifts!!!
Keep up all this good positive thinking. I love it.
