Yankee Swap

John sucks.  We've been through this, obviously.  But I am always shocked when he tops himself.  Maybe "shocked" isn't the best term for the feeling.  But I really can't believe it when he tops himself, and/or even when he just stays on even keel and keeps on keeping to his douchey ways.  I guess I just keep expecting him to turn around and start acting normal... since, for the most part I deal with normal people, I expect him to fall in line at some point.

Yesterday was Christmas.  So, as has been tradition, I brought the boys upstate to be with him and his family on Christmas night.  He has a big family and they all have a great tradition of having a big party on Christmas night, all sorts of food and drink, and the highlight of the night being a fully charged Yankee Swap.
The whole family gets really involved and takes things to silly extremes in their bets, and dares, etc, all in the quest to make their family members humiliate themselves to win the "best" gift offered in the game.
I don't even feel like writing about this.  John basically ignored the boys the whole night.  After about an hour into the yankee swap, I pulled him aside and said, "I don't want to be a jerk, but I left MY family and drove 2 hours up here so that YOU could spend Christmas with the boys."  He huffed and puffed and forced himself into the basement to play with the guys.
It took every ounce of my fiber Not to haul off and punch him in his ugly face.
A little passed 9, the swap was done and so a few started trickling out.  I was in a conversation with my ex-siser in law and niece when John came over and offered to go warm up my car..  "here's yer hat...."
I told him that I wasn't ready to go, the boys were still playing, etc.."  He said he was heading out.  and he did.
He hasn't seen the boys in weeks, but was in a major rush to leave on Christmas.
so cute.
don't get me started on his bullshit Christmas gifts.
