I'm not usually one to toot my own horn, but right now I'm gonna go ahead and do it. Some days I'm amazed that I got through it all the way to the end without cracking! Last Wednesday, I took the boys to the dr because J woke up with a really raw sounding barking cough. They'd both had colds for a week or so, but Wednesday was the first time I felt concerned enough to warrant a dr visit. I had the dr look at R for good measure since we were already there. I was surprised to learn that he had a double ear infection. I had no idea- he never complains! He's a tough kid. J, on the other hand was given a clean bill of health, more or less. Just a cold or something that will run it's course. By Thursday afternoon however, he could barely stand by the end of taikwondo, and when I got him home, took his temperature-- 103! So much for that clean bill of health. By Friday morning, he was puking and exhausted and still running fevers.
Tonight was my Ethics final. So, the weekend that I had intended to be a hard core study- marathon, turned into a hardcore sick baby watching, puke cleaning, linen laundering marathon. Oh well, I read when I could, and figured I know what I know by this point in the semester.
This morning, I woke up, stripped my bed (for the 3rd time this week) to rid it of a tiny drop of vomit that managed out of R when he coughed from his milk. Went downstairs, walked the dogs in the rain, and got the boys situated on the couches for some spongebob. My mom babysat for me so I could run to my campus to try to get the boys into the campus daycare for my summer session. It's a lottery system, so not every kid gets in, depending on their availability. By some stroke of crazy good luck, my kid's names were the first two called! Hallelujah-- one less thing to worry about! After that, I ran to AC More to pick up some supplies for the boys' birthday parties coming up this week. Got home, did more laundry, tried to squeeze in some reading which was just plain silly- every time I picked up my book, one of the boys needed something. Cleaned up some more puke, and had to strip the boys' bed linens again because J happened to be in his room serving a "time out" when he puked this time. Super. By this time, it was about 4pm, and my test was at 6:30. Put J in the shower, his sheets in the washer. Set out their pj's and anything they might need while I was at school taking my test. Got in the car and zipped over to campus. My stomach growled.. I realized that during the chaos of the day, I forgot to really eat. So I popped into the college cafeteria and grabbed a banana.. Ran over to my building and took my exam. Pretty sure I aced it.
As I pulled off my exit from the expressway on the way home, the skies opened up again and it poured. Perfect timing... the dogs were anxiously waiting for me at the front door by their leashes.. Another walk in the rain.
<<<<SIGH>>>>
A long weekend, and a crazy day. But I got through it. (by the skin of my teeth I think.)
